When to go

The coast through the year

The Amalfi Coast is at its best from April to October. Many hotels and boat services close from November to March, so we help you choose the right moment and book early.

Spring

Warm days, blooming gardens and fewer crowds. Ideal for Pompeii, Ravello and the Path of the Gods.

Summer

Hot and lively, with the best boat days to Capri, Ischia and Procida. Book early for Positano.

September and October

A warm sea, golden light, fewer visitors and the grape harvest on the slopes of Vesuvius.

Plan ahead

The best hotels in Positano and Capri, private boats and drivers often book 6 to 12 months ahead.

Amalfi Coast questions

Can’t find your answer? WhatsApp us or send us a message.

How many days do you need on the Amalfi Coast?

We recommend at least 5 to 7 days to enjoy Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi, Ravello and a boat day to Capri without rushing.

With 10 days, you can add Pompeii, a cooking class and the islands of Ischia and Procida, at a relaxed pace that works for couples and families alike.

Shorter stays are possible, and we’ll help you prioritise what matters most to you.

Is it better to stay in Sorrento or Positano?

Sorrento is lively, well connected and a practical base for Pompeii, Capri and Naples, with plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance.

Positano is quieter at night, romantic and right on the coast, but more expensive and full of steps.

Many of our guests split their stay between the two, as in our sample itinerary: a few nights in Sorrento for Pompeii and Capri, then a few nights in Positano for Amalfi and Ravello.

How do you get from Naples to the Amalfi Coast?

The easiest and most comfortable way is a private transfer from Naples airport or train station: about 1 hour to Sorrento and 1.5 hours to Positano.

In season, ferries also connect Naples, Sorrento, Capri, Positano and Amalfi, but timetables change with the season and the weather, and luggage can be a challenge.

We arrange the right combination of private drivers, boats and ferries for your itinerary, so you arrive relaxed and never have to worry about connections.

Is the Amalfi Coast good for families with kids?

Absolutely, as long as the trip is planned at the right pace.

Kids love the boat days and swimming stops, cooking classes where they make their own pasta, and lemon garden visits with tastings and picnics under the lemon trees.

Pompeii fascinates children of all ages with a guide who knows how to tell its story, and Sorrento is an easy, flat base for evening walks and gelato.

For families, we plan shorter travel days, family-friendly hotels and flexible schedules, so the trip works for every age.

Should you visit Capri, or Ischia and Procida?

Capri is the most famous island in the bay, with the Faraglioni, the grottoes, the Gardens of Augustus and its glamorous Piazzetta.

Ischia is larger and known for its thermal gardens and natural hot springs, while Procida is small, colourful and peaceful, far from the crowds.

With a private boat, you don’t have to choose: enjoy Capri one day and Ischia and Procida another, as in our sample itinerary.

What is the best time to visit the Amalfi Coast?

The best times to visit the Amalfi Coast are May, June and September.

These months bring warm weather and a sea warm enough for swimming, with fewer crowds than July and August.

July and August are hot, lively and busy, perfect for boat days to Capri, Ischia and Procida if you book early.

April and October are lovely for walking, Pompeii and sightseeing, with milder weather and quieter villages.

From November to March many hotels, restaurants and boat services close. Whatever the season, we recommend booking 6 to 12 months ahead for the best hotels, boats and experiences.

Can you drive the Amalfi Coast yourself?

You can, but we don’t recommend it.

The coastal road is narrow and winding, parking is scarce and expensive, and traffic in summer can be intense. Local buses and ferries run to their own timetables, which change with the season and the weather.

That is why we organize your days on the coast with a private driver or a private boat. You get door-to-door service, drop-offs right in the center of each village, and you can enjoy the views instead of watching the road.

If you prefer to drive, we recommend a rental car only for the parts of your trip away from the coast, returning it before you reach Sorrento or Positano.

In our experience, the most relaxing way to enjoy the Amalfi Coast is to leave transport to local professionals. This lets you make the most of your time and fully enjoy every day of your trip.

How much time do you need for Pompeii?

Plan about 2.5 to 3 hours with a private guide to see the highlights of the Pompeii Archaeological Park without getting tired: the Forum, the streets and houses, the frescoes and the theatres.

Combined with lunch and a wine tasting at a family winery on the slopes of Vesuvius, it makes a perfect full day.

A useful tip: visit early in the morning or late in the afternoon in summer, as there is little shade on the site. We book your entry and guide in advance.

Are your Amalfi Coast tours private?

Yes. Every trip is designed from scratch for you, with private drivers, private boats and licensed private guides.

No group tours, no fixed schedules, and 24/7 local support during your stay, so you can enjoy the Amalfi Coast at your own pace.
